About Wendy Long Stanley

Hi, I'm Wendy. I am an author, historian, and an APT-certified tour guide in old city Philadelphia. The fact that you're visiting my website is thrilling to me! I love writing historical fiction that brings interesting, forgotten women from history back to life. My first two novels, The Power to Deny and The Treason of Betsy Ross, have brought much joy to me. Both are set in the American Revolution, and both books are available for purchase at the historic site (respectively, Graeme Park and the Betsy Ross House) of the real-life woman I wrote about! This is a dream come true for me. I'm always grateful. Prior to writing fiction I worked in corporate communications for many years and still have a fondness for creating strategic campaigns, writing great pieces, and feeling the satisfaction of a job well done. When we communicate well, good things happen. I was born in England, raised in Canada, and now live in the United States in Philadelphia. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, and a Master of Arts degree in Public History. I also went to Journalism school and have a print journalism certification, but that seems like a million years ago. The common thread in my life has always been writing and a love for history. All I ever wanted to do was write and travel. How lucky am I that I got to do both? I feel like I'm just getting started and plan to keep going. There are so many stories left to be told. Find me on social media, follow me, let me follow you back, and let's chat about history, books, art, traveling, and all the beautiful things.
